Workplace Challenges

Christ in the Workforce

Workforce Ethics

One of the definitions of ethics in the workforce is a code of conduct to: "Do the right thing at the right time and do it right."  This can be a challenge for some.   But as Christ representatives on this earth, we must maintain our code of conduct, which is righteousness and that takes practice.  A friend once told me that before he speaks, think or act; he stops and considers is this appropriate, is it Christ-like?  He said he had to train himself not to be spontaneous and react.

Did you know ethics is not a new philosophy? Ethical conduct is found in the Bible.  For example, Daniel was described as one that had an excellent spirit. He was a man of wisdom, prestige, and godly conduct.  Daniel believed in doing the right thing for God and the people of Israel, even to his hurt.  In Christ, we too have an excellent spirit more excellent than Daniel.  However, we have a choice to do the right thing.   Listen to the Holy Spirit within you.  He will guide you with wisdom and knowledge to do the right thing  at the right time and to do it right!  Read 1 Cor 1:30-31.

Workforce Diversity

Workforce diversity is a man made initiative to distinguish between race, creed, sex, preference and location.   This initiative has emerged to include generations (e.g. Baby Boomers, Gen X, and Millennials, etc.).  Man considers the outward appearance to determine the worth or success of a person.  They tend to put a value on you based upon your title,  job, the clothes you wear; the car you drive and house you live in.  In the grand scheme of things all of those things are nothing if you don't have Christ.  Because in Christ, you have everything already that pertains to life and godliness.  Realize who you are in Christ and never be ashamed or condemned.  Read Eph 1:3 and Rom 8:1,2.

Aren't you glad that God doesn't judge us by our outward appearances, but He judges the heart of man.   For in God's eyes there is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. Read Gal 3:28

Workforce Resolution

Life happens! Things don't always go as planned.  Mistake are made.  Words are spoken, that you cannot take back.  But you can work out your mistakes or conflicts with others by pursuing peace and demonstrating the love of God.

God forgave you of your sins, who are you to hold onto someone else's sin against you? Forgive, walk in love and pursue peace, otherwise you set yourself up for failure in your health and mental state of mind.    Read 1 Cor 13:4-8

Warning Signs When the Ax is Coming

Your manager calls you into the office on Monday morning and tells you, that you will have to train offshore resource within a certain period of time.  The training consist of your current job role.   You don't know what to think about this so you go to the Lord for advice.  God reminded you of the warning signs that He brought to your attention months ago, but you failed to take authority.  You were more excited about the fact you heard from God.  Now, he sends you another warning you should start making preparations for your next opportunity.  Below were the warning signs He showed you:
  • Unjustified poor performance ratings
  • Informed no raises or bonuses for the year
  • Tighter deadlines and longer working hours
  • Frequent unnecessary micromanagement
Call to Action: When the Lord gives you warnings about anything act on it, but first ask Him what to do with the information He has given unto you. This is how you operate in wisdom.
